Dictionary of Space Concepts

Welcome to the Dictionary of Space Concepts Workshop!

In this workshop, you will have the opportunity to contribute to our new Dictionary of Space Concepts, a flagship project of UNIVERSEH’s Multilingualism Programme, which we now offer online here at the HHU’s Language Centre as part of the UNIVERSEH (European Space University for Earth and Humanity) curriculum.

In this workshop, students will aid us in co-creating the DSC project! You will help us define important terminologies and concepts for fields relevant to the space sector (e.g., "space, earth, natural sciences, medicine, humanities"). We will gather terms using authentic texts, videos, etc., in order to develop our definitions, design and develop illustrations, and finally translate terms into the five UNIVERSEH partner languages (German, English, French, Polish, Swedish).

The aim of this workshop is to allow students to take ownership over the development of an illustrated Dictionary of Space Concepts that we are developing in cooperation with the Computer Linguistics Department. This is an open-source, wiki-project that will be accessible to experts in the space sector and the general public!

Willkommen zum „Dictionary of Space Concepts“ Workshop!

In diesem Workshop haben Sie die Möglichkeit, zu unserem neuen Wörterbuch der Weltraumkonzepte beizutragen, ein Vorzeigeprojekt des UNIVERSEH-Mehrsprachigkeitsprogramms, das wir jetzt im Sprachenzentrum der HHU als Teil des UNIVERSEH-Lehrplans (European Space University for Earth and Humanity) online anbieten.

In diesem Workshop helfen uns die Studierenden bei der Mitgestaltung des DSC-Projekts! Sie werden uns dabei helfen, wichtige Begriffe und Konzepte für die Bereiche zu definieren, die für den Weltraumsektor relevant sind (z.B. "Weltraum, Erde, Naturwissenschaften, Medizin, Geisteswissenschaften"). Wir werden Begriffe anhand von authentischen Texten, Videos usw. sammeln, um unsere Definitionen zu entwickeln, Illustrationen zu entwerfen und schließlich Begriffe in die fünf UNIVERSEH-Partnersprachen (Deutsch, Englisch, Französisch, Polnisch, Schwedisch) zu übersetzen.

Ziel dieses Workshops ist es, den Studierenden die Möglichkeit zu geben, die Verantwortung für die Entwicklung eines illustrierten Wörterbuchs der Weltraumkonzepte zu übernehmen, das wir in Zusammenarbeit mit der Abteilung Computerlinguistik entwickeln. Es handelt sich dabei um ein Open-Source-Wikiprojekt, das Experten aus dem Raumfahrtsektor und der breiten Öffentlichkeit zugänglich sein wird!
