2022 Heinrich Heine Guest Professorship

“Heinrich Heine – Love, Revolution, Europe”

Special guest appearances by a highly-acclaimed actor: Klaus Maria Brandauer takes over the Heinrich Heine Guest Professorship. The renowned actor will visit HHU for two events. The prestigious professorship was previously held by leading personalities of the likes of Marcel Reich-Ranicki, Richard von Weizsäcker, Juli Zeh and, most recently, former German President Joachim Gauck. It entails special lectures and an open dialogue with the general public and students.

Unfortunately, the events scheduled for March/April 2020 had to be cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic. We are therefore all the more delighted to be able to announce the following dates for the postponed guest professorship events.

Brandauer’s first lecture at HHU will take place at 30. März 2022 at 16.30 pm on 2022.

As is the custom, the second event with Brandauer will involve a seminar for students of the Faculty of Philosophy at 27. April 2022, followed by a lecture for the general public at 16.30 pm.

The event series is entitled “Heinrich Heine – Love, Revolution, Europe”. All events are open to the general public and free of charge. They will take place in Lecture Hall 3A, Building 23.01 on the HHU campus. In addition to students and other members of the University, all citizens of Düsseldorf are welcome to attend.

The Heinrich Heine Guest Professorship is a gift from the state of North Rhine-Westphalia to HHU on the occasion of its naming in 1988. Prior to Klaus Maria Brandauer, Helmut Schmidt, Wolf Biermann, Siegfried Lenz, Joschka Fischer, Antje Vollmer, Karl Cardinal Lehmann, Ulrich Wickert and Joachim Gauck previously acted as Heinrich Heine Guest Professors.
