The Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Business Administration and Economics continue to be highly rated and rank among the best at German universities in various areas. Students are particularly satisfied with the general study situation in the ranked subjects, awarding an average of 4.2 stars out of a maximum of 5. Prospective students can look forward to a wide range of support measures when they start their studies.
The ranking list, which is one of the most comprehensive evaluations of the German higher education landscape, is based on feedback from students and facts relating to studies, teaching and research. The current ranking focused on the subjects of law, business administration and economics.
Top-class conditions for law
In nearly all categories, law in Düsseldorf continues to rank above the national average, with top ratings averaging 4.2 stars. Course organisation and support from teaching staff in particular are rated especially highly, as are the good library resources. Students also gave the general study situation and curriculum above-average ratings. Those surveyed even awarded 4.6 stars – the top result nationwide – for the lack of timetable conflicts, access to classes and appropriate class participant numbers. The support offered throughout law programmes in Düsseldorf, from the start of studies to exam preparation, also stands out.
One example of the particular commitment to students is the support provided during the early stages: All new students are assigned to small groups, each with a professor and two tutors on hand explicitly to provide assistance during the first semester.
Business administration and economics
Business administration and economics have also maintained their good positions in the nationwide comparison. Business administration even improved on its results from the last ranking (2023), with the general study situation rating rising to 4.2 stars.
Here again, respondents appreciated the course organisation and support from teaching staff, as well as the up-to-dateness of the curriculum. Students are particularly satisfied with their library, giving it 4.4 stars out of a maximum of 5. In the fact-based evaluation criteria for studies and research, such as completion of (bachelor’s and master’s) degrees in a reasonable period of time or doctorates per professor, business administration and economics remain in the top group; this was also the case for support at the start of studies.
The CHE University Ranking
Surveying around 120,000 students, the CHE ranking list has been one of the most comprehensive and detailed university comparisons in German-speaking regions for over 25 years. It is part of the “HeyStudium” online portal, which brings together information relating to (starting) studies provided by the CHE, the weekly newspaper ZEIT and the Higher Education Compass offered by the German Rectors’ Conference. In addition to the detailed ranking results, the CHE also offers an interactive map showing only the top rankings of all universities and their departments surveyed this year.
