Whether smartphones, tablets or laptops - websites are more often accessed on the move than from a PC. With its new website the Heinrich-Heine-University Düsseldorf (HHU) now meets the demand of this user behaviour.
More than nine years ago hhu.de had its last major design change - a long time in the digital world. In the meantime there are other end devices, demands and expectations. Accordingly, the relaunch project of the HHU initially required some preliminary work: Since 2017, the design and the changed structures have already been fine-tuned, and in 2019 an interim update of the content management system was added, with which the texts and images are entered or updated. In the last four months, the greatest effort was made: Within two months a further technical update, the migration of all content into the final system and numerous, detailed adjustments were carried out by the HHU staff.
With patience and creativity
Project manager Prof. Dr. Andrea von Hülsen-Esch has successfully completed a major project with the relaunch of the website. The HHU Art Historian and former Vice-President for International Affairs accomplished the relaunch together with the Centre for Information and Media Technology (ZIM), Dr. Christian Eßer and Dr. Dominic Mainz, project coordinator Melinda Sudibyo and agency for digital communications WIMINNO.
Hundreds of editors updated the extensive content. "A big thank goes to all who have shown a lot of patience, helped constructively and creatively - above all Andrea von Hülsen-Esch!", said Prof. Dr. Anja Steinbeck, President of the HHU.
