Prof. Dr. Justus Haucap has been appointed to the advisory board of Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Katherina Reiche. Together with Professor Veronika Grimm (Technical University of Nuremberg), Stephan Kolev (Ludwig Erhard Forum Berlin) and Volker Wieland (University of Frankfurt), the director of the Düsseldorf Institute for Competition Economics (DICE) advises the minister on energy, competition, finance and overarching regulatory issues. The position is honorary and does not involve a move to the Federal Ministry of Economics. The appointment does not affect his teaching and research activities at HHU.
The appointment is recognition of Professor Haucap's outstanding scientific work and his contribution to evidence-based policy-making. At the same time, it underlines the high visibility and relevance of DICE in current economic policy debates – not least because, with Prof. Dr. Jens Südekum, Federal Finance Minister Lars Klingbeil's representative for macroeconomic development, two DICE professors are now in prominent advisory positions for the Federal Government.
