Short description

The Financial and Actuarial Mathematics program is organized both by the Faculty of Business and Economics and the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences of the University of Düsseldorf. The program is subject to local admission restrictions.

Programme content

Answering economically relevant questions increasingly requires a combination of business, economic and mathematical skills. The bachelor program Financial and Actuarial Mathematics provides the background for solving these demanding questions. A focus of the program will be on finance and insurance related topics.

Programme structure

The Financial and Actuarial Mathematics program comprises mandatory courses and compulsory electives offered by the Faculty of Business and Economics and the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences of the University of Düsseldorf: 

- Mandatory courses in Mathematics (58 ECTS)
- Mandatory courses in Economics and Business Administration (61 ECTS)
- Mandatory courses in Financial and Actuarial Mathematics (21 ECTS)
- Compulsory electives in Mathematics, Economics and Business Administration (12 ECTS)
- Other electives (16 ECTS)
- Bachelor thesis (12 ECTS)

Programme objectives/Career prospects

Graduates combine mathematical skills and economic know-how. Therefore, they are qualified for many quantitative positions in the finance and insurance industry. They are also able to attend master programs in Mathematics, Economics or Business Administration.
