Short description
The Master´s program in chemistry at the Heinrich-Heine-University Dusseldorf is not subject to local restriction admission but requiring a “proof of special suitability. Applications can be directly sent to the corresponding admission office of the university for both the summer (April) and the winter (October) term.
Entry/Admission requirements

All Bachelor´s and Master´s programs in chemistry are accredited by ASIIN based on the ECTS system facilitating international exchange. More information
Programme content
Based on the basic theoretical and practical knowledge in chemistry the Master´s program leads to the second professional qualification in 4 semesters.
The education addresses the actual research areas of the chemical institutes (e.g. biological chemistry, molecular catalysis, advanced materials or excited state processes) but also includes general scientific theoretical methodology and system proficiency.
Instead of focusing on specialized narrow research fields the Master´s program provides a solid background and basis on which the students learn to grow into a new research area quickly.
Students learn in mandatory classes and teaching modules of choice to address and solve individually complex scientific problems. Such skills enable them to continue with a PhD program but also to take leadership positions in industry.
Programme structure
The Master´s program in chemistry is research-oriented and provides the second professional qualification within 4 semesters.
Students select specialized teaching modules of choice in an emerging research area with potential later enrolment in a PhD program.
- Scientific specialization with second professional qualification within 4 semesters
- Broad selection of specialized teaching modules of choice for individual studying
