Cross-registered students

If you are already enrolled as a regular student at another university, you have the option to enrol as a cross-registered student at HHU. You have the following options:

1.) Cross-registered students enrolled in an additional study programme, which is not identical to study programme at their first university.

All undergraduate, Bachelor's core- and supplemental study programs as well as Master's- and PhD study programmes with open admission. You can only choose a study program different from the subject you are studying at the second university. Please not that this restriction only refers to the subject of your studies but not the target degree. This means that you are for example allowed to be enrolled in two Bachelor's programs at different universities but not two times in the same subject, e.g. computer science.

Yes, this is possible. However, there are many matters that have to be taken into account. You are only allowed to be enrolled in one study program with restricted admission at one university. Should you be for example enrolled as a Ersthörer/in in a Bachelor's study program with restricted admission, you are consequently only able to enrol in a study program with open admission as a cross-registered student. However, if you are enrolled in a study program with open admission as a Ersthörer/in, you are allowed to enrol as a cross-restricted student in a study program with restricted admission. Nevertheless, in this case, you will still have to apply for an admission to the study program.  Additionally, upon your enrolment, you will have to prove that your first study program at your first university is a study program with open admission. Such a written confirmation is usually issued readily at your university. There are the following exceptions: Cross-registered students cannot be enrolled in the courses of study medicine, dentistry, pharmacy and psychology.

For study programmes with open admission please mind the general submission deadlines, in regards to study programmes with restricted admission application deadlines have to be met. The deadlines for the application and the confirmation of your student status can be found here.

Yes. You are fully entitled to examination, this means that you can take part in all your exams and also graduate at your second university.

No additional fee needs to be paid for the enrolment as a cross-registered student since you have already paid the study fees at your first university.

2.) "minor" cross-registered students with the authorization to attend individual lectures and seminars.

As a "minor" cross-registered student you can only take part in study-related assessments (performance records/achievement certificates). Taking part in final examinations (e.g. Bachelor- or Master examinations) is restricted to enrolled students and regular cross-registered students.  Additionally, you are solely entitled to attend the seminars and lectures for which you have received a certificate of participation. If you want to attend a class, you will need to contact the corresponding faculty and the lecturer of your seminar of interest.
