Craft Your Constellation

Using a blank night sky template, draw and connect your stars to form a brand-new constellation. Too long was the night sky the domain of ancient myths! What would you add to the night sky to update it to our time? Submissions can be whimsical, sci-fi-inspired, deeply mythological, or entirely surreal. Pop culture icons, animals, everyday objects, and abstract shapes are all welcome! Alongside your drawing, submit a short write-up (up to 250 words) detailing the myth, legend, or dramatic tale of how your creation ended up in the heavens. Spice up your entry with quirky trivia about your constellation. Does it bring good luck to travelers? Is it visible only during certain cosmic events?

Winner Announcement - online through 23.09.2026 via Instagram and/or e-mail

Eligible Submissions

Submissions must use the provided template and include a description of up to 250 words with the lore/explanation of the constellation.

Submission Guidelines

Choose one of the following methods

• Option A: Email the submission directly to universeh(at)hhu.de
• Option B: Submit directly via direct message on Instagram to @universeh.ambassadors.hhu

Required Information

Each submission must include:

1. Title of the constellation
2. Name/Pseudonym of the author
3. Short description (max. 250 words) explaining your constellation

Prizes

2 × 2 tickets to the Aurora show in the Galileum (Solingen)

Competition Rules

You must:

1. Create original artwork - all work must be your own
2. Follow the "Craft your constellation" theme
3. Include all required submission information
4. Grant UNIVERSEH permission to feature winning artwork on our social media and
   promotional materials

Prohibited:

1. NO AI-generated art - all artwork must be created by human hand/skill
2. NO hateful speech, discriminatory, or political content
3. NO plagiarism or theft - do not submit someone else's artwork
4. NO copyrighted or trademarked materials of third parties

You need to be …

… under 18 years of age and/or pupil or student enrolled at a school or university with student ID.

Rights and Usage

• By entering this competition, winners agree to allow UNIVERSEH to:
• Feature artwork on Instagram and other social media platforms
• Use artwork in promotional materials related to UNIVERSEH activities
• Credit will always be given to the artist
