Faculties

HHU has five faculties - all united on one campus. The university was founded with the Medical Faculty, followed later by the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, the Faculty of Philosophy, the Faculty of Business Administration and Economics and the Faculty of Law.

Faculty of Law

HHU’s Faculty of Law brings together all traditional legal research and teaching fields in its own central building on campus; it has 17 chairs and professorships as well as eight institutes.

The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (MNF) comprises the subjects of biology, chemistry, computer science, mathematics, pharmacy, physics and psychology. It puts core focus on life sciences and physics.

The interlinking of research, teaching and patient care that is characteristic of medical faculties is enhanced at HHU thanks to the spatial connection between the University and hospital: both campus areas are directly adjacent to each other.

The Faculty of Arts and Humanities is the faculty for humanities, cultural studies and social sciences at HHU. It includes 12 institutes (excluding research institutes) and currently offers more than 40 study programmes (BA and MA).
