Organisation and Bodies

The Rectorate, the Central University Administration (ZUV), the University Council, the Senate as well as the Central Operating Units and scientific institutions form the core organisational structure at HHU.

Rectorate

The Rectorate is the University’s central governing body that is comprised of the President, Chancellor (head of administration) as well as four Vice Presidents for various departments.

University Council

The University Council advises the Rectorate and exercises supervision over its management. Members are persons holding important positions of responsibility in society, especially in science, the industry or culture.

Senate

The Senate is the University’s only central body in which all members of the University are represented. It participates in all of the University’s fundamental, structural decisions.

Central scientific institutions

Central scientific institutions at HHU undertake interdisciplinary tasks for several institutions or disciplines.

Central operating units / service units

HHU's central operating units provide important services for the entire university, e.g. IT support (ZIM), books and media (ULB), qualification (Juno) and many more.

Self-government and representations

As set by law, there are various representatives and co-determination bodies available for employees, lecturers and students at Heinrich Heine University.
