Data Protection Unit

The data protection officer of Heinrich-Heine-University Düsseldorf assists all employees and students with questions regarding data protection. She advises the staff on all questions relating to the processing of personal data and supports them in complying with and ensuring data protection in their work area. Its activities are based on the European Data Protection Regulation (DGDPR), the Data Protection Act of North Rhine-Westphalia (DSG NRW) and the Datenschutzordnung der HHU.

Communications to the Data Protection Commissioner are treated confidentially and are only passed on to third parties with his or her consent. Employees of Heinrich Heine University may contact the Data Protection Officer directly (without going through official channels) at any time in matters of data protection. The Data Protection Officer is obliged to maintain secrecy regarding the identity of the person concerned and the circumstances that allow conclusions to be drawn about them.
