Professor Christoph J. Börner, born on 8 March 1964 in Cologne, is an economist and has been a professor at Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf since 2002. Following a banking apprenticeship at “Stadtsparkasse Köln”, Christoph J. Börner studied business administration at the University of Cologne from 1986 to 1990. He received his PhD in 1994 and his venia legendi (habilitation) in the field of business administration at the Chair of General Business Administration and Banking Management at the University of Cologne supervised by Hans E. Büschgen in 2000.

Professor Börner was visiting professor at the University of Mannheim and the Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf in 2001 and 2002 before having been appointed full professor and chair for Business Administration specialized in Financial Services in 2002. His research and teaching activities are concentrating on banking and the insurance, with a focus on the interaction of institutional structures, business strategies and regulatory requirements.

From 2005 to 2007 Christoph J. Börner was Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration and Economics. He has been Managing Director of the Düsseldorf Business School since January 2012. He is also member of various associations and committees, including the Stock Exchange Council of the Düsseldorf Stock Exchange since 2010.
