Subjects making up the Jewish Studies programme include the language(s), religion, history and culture of the Jews from antiquity to the present day in terms of both their independent characteristics and in relation to their respective non-Jewish environment.
A key component is acquisition of Hebrew language skills.

At the fore of the Bachelor's programme is an introduction to the basics of academic Jewish Studies and the teaching of the Hebrew language (biblical and modern Hebrew). In the second and third years of the programme, students can choose from a range of modules including the reading of rabbinic and mediaeval literature, the relationship between majority culture and minority culture, phenomena and conditions of tradition and change in Jewish life, questions of Jewish identity balancing the conflicting demands of unity and diversity, as well as state and society in Israel. In the Master’s programme, students can deepen their academic study of Jewish/Hebrew literature and Jewish history, religion and intellectual history.
